Musei del Castello Sforzesco
Piazza Castello
Lanza - Foro Buonaparte
The Museums of the Castello Sforzesco are housed inside the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. They display the civic collection of the City of Milan, established since the nineteenth century, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, ceramics, tapestries, ivories and objects of applied art, musical instruments, books and archaeological collections. The museum layout project, which is still present in almost all of it, was created by the famous Milanese studio BBPR, which has become a model for museum displays. The project was carried out in two stages: the first between 1954 and 1956 with the restoration of the Cortile Ducale and the second with the restoration of the Cortile della Rocchetta in 1963.
