The Porro goldsmith's workshop continues a long family tradition, which began in the heart of Milan in the 1920s by grandfather Luigi Porro, the initiator of the workshop. Italian design, craftsmanship and contemporary style now characterise this goldsmith's workshop, an icon of Made in Italy, carried on by his granddaughters Francesca and Marta Porro. From design to creation, everything is made strictly by hand and to measure. Specialising in high jewellery, the workshop produces unique pieces that express originality, authenticity and character. The workshop is located in Via Fiori Chiari, a stone's throw from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, and has attracted numerous artists who over time have had their works made, as was the case with the artist Consagra who commissioned rings, brooches and earrings. The conceptual artist Piero Manzoni and the opera singer Giuseppe Zecchillo lived and worked in the building.
